LOCOMOTION ALL STARS EARN THE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE
City of Kennesaw sponsored teams make a name for themselves
For the Kennesaw LocoMotion All Stars this is a big accomplishment and proof for these cheerleaders that hard work, practice, and teamwork pay off. On Saturday, April 4th two LocoMotion Teams jumped, climbed, cheered, and tumbled their way to the top in the Spirit Cheer Big South Nationals at the Cobb Galleria Center. The Mini Level 1 team, ages 5-8 years, received a third place finish to be proud of. Then the Small Junior Level 1 team ages 8-13 years, aimed high to achieve the first place and National Championship title.
"The girls went out there, did their best, and had fun. Their personalities and pride really shined through. They applied all they have learned this year and the parents and coaches could not be more proud of them. They were told to do their best and give their 1st place quality performance. These girls have come along way this year." said director Jodi Kempany of both of the teams.
The Kennesaw LocoMotion cheerleading and dance teams were formed in 2006 to offer training in dance and cheer technique, and stunt, jump, and tumbling skills, as well as provide community performance and competitive opportunities. They also learn how the athletic principles of dance and cheerleading can be applied to their lives everyday and how to be better "peer"leaders at all times.
The program strives to offer quality instruction and experiences that fit well into most family schedules and budgets. All parents of the team members participate in Booster Club and fundraising activities. Their season is a August-May commitment with a all star summer camp in June. The season includes performances in the North Georgia State Fair, local festivals, parades, school events, and assisted living homes, and local competitions. Lasting friendships are cultivated through social events planned by the Parent Booster Club. Current team members hale from Kennesaw, Acworth, Marietta, Dallas, and Powder Springs, GA.
